To reset your garage door opener remote that is not working or needs reprogramming, you need to clear opener memory and reprogram remote using Learn button on opener motor unit. First, locate Learn button on garage door opener motor unit hanging from ceiling, near antenna wire and light cover, often under light lens, colored yellow, purple, red, orange, or green depending on model and year, such as LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman. To erase all remotes and reset memory, press and hold Learn button for 6 to 10 seconds until LED light goes out, indicating all remotes, keypads, and MyQ devices cleared. To reprogram remote after erasing, press and release Learn button briefly, LED will light steady for 30 seconds indicating ready to learn. Within 30 seconds, press and hold button on remote you want to program until opener light blinks, clicks, or garage door moves slightly, indicating remote learned and reset complete. For multiple remotes, repeat for each remote within 30 seconds per remote, or press Learn again for each. For keypad, press Learn and enter PIN and press Enter. If remote still doesn't work after reset, replace battery, check for lock mode engaged on wall console that disables remotes, indicated by blinking light, so press and hold lock button for 5 to 10 seconds to unlock before resetting. Ensure antenna wire on opener hangs down straight for range. Test remote after reset.
