Unflooding a small gas-powered generator engine that has received an excess of liquid fuel inside its combustion chamber requires clearing out the trapped gasoline before attempting to restart. First, turn the fuel valve lever to the "Off" position to stop any additional fuel from flowing into the carburetor. Second, disconnect the spark plug wire using a spark plug socket wrench, remove the spark plug entirely, and inspect the tip for wetness. Third, pull the recoil starter cord firmly three to four times to eject excess fuel vapor out of the open spark plug hole. You can troubleshoot engine flooding safely by keeping away open flames and wearing eye protection. You can verify that your corrective action is successful when wiping the spark plug dry, reinstalling it securely, turning the fuel valve back on with the choke open, and pulling the starter cord causes the generator engine to fire up smoothly.
