To deprogram your garage door opener, meaning to erase all remote controls, keypads, and MyQ devices from opener memory so old remotes no longer work, you use the Learn button on the opener motor unit hanging from ceiling, which clears memory. First, locate Learn button on back or side of motor unit, usually near antenna wire, it may be yellow, purple, red, or green depending on brand and year. To erase all codes, press and hold Learn button for about 6 to 10 seconds until LED light goes out, which indicates all remotes, keypads, and MyQ accessories have been erased from memory. Some models require holding for 10 seconds until LED turns off. After erasing, test remotes; none should work. This is useful when you move into new house, lose remote, or want to remove old tenant access. After deprogramming, you will need to reprogram remotes and keypad you want to keep. To reprogram remote, press Learn button briefly for one second until LED blinks, then within 30 seconds press and hold remote button until motor unit lights blink or you hear click, indicating programmed. For wireless keypad, press Learn button briefly, then within 30 seconds enter new 4-digit PIN and press Enter until lights blink. If you have MyQ, reprogram via MyQ app. Deprogramming does not affect travel limits or force settings. If you only want to remove one remote, you must erase all and reprogram remaining ones, as most openers cannot delete single remote.
