While it is a famous and heartwarming piece of hockey lore that Sidney Crosby lived with Mario Lemieux and his family when he first entered the National Hockey League in 2005, Crosby has not lived there for many years. When he was drafted first overall as an eighteen-year-old rookie, the Lemieux family generously opened their home to help the young phenom adjust to life in a new city and the crushing pressure of professional sports. Crosby spent roughly the first five years of his career living at the Lemieux estate, building a lifelong bond with the family.
