Interior means inside, not outside. It refers to inner part, inner space, or inner nature of something, opposite of exterior which means outside. For example, interior of house means inside house where rooms are, not outside yard or outer walls, interior of car means inside cabin where you sit, not outside body, interior of box means space inside box. As adjective, interior means located inside, such as interior walls are walls inside building, interior door is door inside house, interior design is design of inside spaces. The word comes from Latin interior meaning inner or more within. So whenever you see interior, think inside, inner, internal. Exterior is outside, outer, external. For instance, if someone says the house has beautiful interior, they mean inside looks beautiful, not outside. If paint label says interior paint, it means paint made for inside walls, not outside. So interior definitely means inside, and exterior means outside. This distinction is used in architecture, geography, anatomy, and everyday language to separate what is inside from what is outside, making it clear interior equals inside.
