Do you put a Ring doorbell on a door or wall, you put it on the wall next to the door, not on the door itself. Ring doorbells are designed to be mounted on flat wall surface or door frame trim beside the front door, at about 48 inches high, which is standard light switch height, to provide optimal view of visitors from head to toe and to keep wiring accessible. Mounting on the door itself is not recommended because door moves, which would cause wiring issues for wired models, constant motion would trigger false motion alerts every time door opens, and battery would drain faster, and doorbell would be damaged by slamming. Also door mounting would make camera view unstable and risk damage. Installation involves mounting bracket screwed into wall with anchors, then doorbell snaps onto bracket with security screw. If wall is brick, concrete, or siding, use appropriate anchors. Some users mount on door frame trim if wall space is limited, which is acceptable if surface is flat and sturdy. Use wedge kit if wall angle needs adjustment to point camera toward visitor area. So always wall next to door, not door.
