No, you should not use a Homeline breaker in a GE panel, as Homeline breakers are designed and UL listed only for Square D Homeline panels and are not approved for GE panels. Circuit breakers are engineered to fit specific bus bar designs, and using a breaker not listed for that panel violates the National Electrical Code, voids the UL listing of the panel, and can create serious safety hazards including poor electrical contact, overheating, arcing, and fire. GE panels, now owned by ABB, are designed for GE THQL and other GE listed breakers. While some third-party classified breakers, such as certain Eaton CL breakers, are tested and UL classified to fit multiple panel brands including GE and Square D Homeline, standard Square D Homeline breakers are not classified for GE panels. The physical clip and bus stab dimensions are different, so even if a Homeline breaker appears to snap in, the connection may be loose. To ensure safety, always check the label inside your panel door that lists approved breaker types and use only breakers listed for your specific panel. If you have a GE panel, use GE breakers or Eaton CL breakers that are explicitly marked as classified for GE panels, not Homeline breakers.
