The New Jersey Devils are not retiring the literal word "jersey" into the rafters, as team numbering protocols strictly adhere to traditional numerical identification from one to ninety-nine for active players. While fan humor or internet memes occasionally joke about unique uniform concepts, the franchise reserves its prestigious rafters exclusively for honoring legendary Hall of Fame players and iconic builders who genuinely shaped the championship history and culture of the organization.
