When a smart thermostat or other wireless device fails to detect your Wi-Fi network during setup, it is most frequently caused by a frequency band mismatch. Modern dual-band routers broadcast both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals under the same or separate network names, but many smart thermostats are designed exclusively to detect and connect to 2.4 GHz networks because it offers superior range and wall penetration. If your router is broadcasting solely on a 5 GHz frequency or if the device cannot isolate the 2.4 GHz band, the network will remain invisible during scans. Additionally, hidden network SSIDs that do not broadcast their name publicly will not show up automatically on device screens. You can troubleshoot by accessing your router settings to ensure 2.4 GHz is enabled and broadcasting. You can verify success when your network name appears on the device display scan list.
