R.J. Hampton is currently not playing in the National Basketball Association because fluctuations in shooting consistency, perimeter efficiency, and intense roster competition led various franchises to move on from his rookie-scale contract. After entering the league with high expectations as a first-round draft pick and logging productive minutes with several different organizations, he faced challenges securing a permanent, stable rotation role. Rather than accepting limited depth minutes or standard two-way assignments indefinitely, he chose to pursue a prominent starting role and expanded playing opportunities internationally in professional overseas leagues.
