When the water dispenser on your residential refrigerator functions normally and dispenses cold water, but the automatic ice maker fails to produce any ice, the malfunction typically indicates a localized issue with the ice maker assembly, its internal thermostat module, or a frozen fill tube. Even though the main water supply line is pressurized and reaches the door dispenser valve, a separate electric water inlet valve solenoid controls water delivery to the ice mold. If the freezer compartment temperature is too warm, or if an ice block chokes the fill nozzle, no water enters the tray. You can troubleshoot water flow easily by inspecting the fill tube. You can verify that your corrective action is successful when clearing fill tube ice or replacing a faulty water valve solenoid restores normal ice harvesting.
