A water pressure that starts out strong when you first turn on a faucet but drops significantly after a few seconds is usually caused by a severely restricted or clogged aerator screen, a failing pressure reducing valve (PRV), or an undersized supply pipe experiencing flow starvation. When the fixture opens, standing water in the pipe rushes out initially, but as flow continues, heavy mineral scale at the tip aerator or a sluggish PRV chokes off incoming volume. Verification: Unscrew and clean the faucet aerator tip to determine if trapped sediment is causing the delayed restriction.
