Delta faucets typically leak due to normal wear and tear on internal components over years of continuous operation, or because of hard water mineral scale accumulation. In single-handle models, leaks usually occur when the internal diamond-coated ceramic valve cartridge wears out or when the small rubber seat seals and conical springs located beneath the cartridge become flattened or obstructed by calcium debris. Regular maintenance, cleaning out mineral deposits, and replacing worn seals or cartridges immediately resolves these drips.
