Dacor appliances are owned by Samsung Electronics, which is South Korean multinational electronics company headquartered in Suwon, South Korea, having acquired Dacor in 2016, with Dacor operating as subsidiary luxury brand. Dacor was founded in 1965 in Pasadena, California, USA by Stanley Joseph as family-owned American luxury appliance company, with headquarters in City of Industry, California, known for high-end ranges and innovation, remaining family-owned until 2016. In August 2016, Samsung Electronics purchased Dacor for 150 million dollars to enter ultra-premium luxury appliance market in North America, as Samsung had mass-market appliances but needed luxury brand to compete with Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Thermador in high-end kitchen market, with Samsung revenue over 200 billion dollars and world's largest appliance maker. Under Samsung ownership, Dacor maintains independent operations with California manufacturing for ranges and ovens, while integrating Samsung smart technology, Wi-Fi connectivity, and supply chain for components, with Dacor continuing as luxury brand above Samsung brand. The acquisition allowed Samsung to gain Dacor's distribution network and luxury expertise. So Dacor appliances are owned by Samsung Electronics, South Korean company, since 2016, with Dacor being luxury subsidiary making high-end appliances in California with Samsung technology, sold through specialty dealers and Best Buy in US and Canada.
