CertainTeed Canada is owned by Saint-Gobain, which is a massive French multinational building materials company headquartered in La Defense, Paris, France. Saint-Gobain was founded in 1665 by King Louis XIV and is one of the oldest companies in the world and one of the largest building materials manufacturers globally with over 47 billion euros in revenue. CertainTeed Corporation itself is headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, USA, and is the North American subsidiary of Saint-Gobain. CertainTeed was founded in 1904 as General Roofing Manufacturing Company and was acquired by Saint-Gobain in 1988. CertainTeed Canada operates as a division of CertainTeed and Saint-Gobain, with Canadian headquarters and plants. In Canada, CertainTeed and its sister company Kaycan, and BP Building Products which is also owned by Saint-Gobain, operate manufacturing facilities. Saint-Gobain owns multiple Canadian plants including shingle plants and building materials plants in Ontario and Quebec. CertainTeed Canada sells roofing shingles, siding, insulation, drywall, and ceilings. So while CertainTeed Canada serves the Canadian market with Canadian employees and some Canadian manufacturing, its ultimate parent is Saint-Gobain of France, not a Canadian-owned company. The Saint-Gobain group also owns Kaycan in Canada and BP shingles made in LaSalle, Quebec.
