Who York HVAC is made by is Johnson Controls, American company headquartered in Cork, Ireland and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that acquired York International in 2005 for 3.2 billion dollars and manufactures HVAC units in Wichita, Kansas and Mexico, with some commercial units in Pennsylvania. York International was founded in 1874 in York, Pennsylvania by inventor who made first ice-making machine, then expanded into AC and refrigeration in 1900s as premium commercial brand. In 2005, Johnson Controls, founded in 1885, global leader in building controls and HVAC, acquired York International including York brand for residential and commercial HVAC to expand into HVAC equipment manufacturing. Today, York HVAC units including YCD AC 14 to 16 SEER, YXV variable speed 20 SEER, YP9C furnace 98 percent AFUE modulating, and YH2F heat pump are made in Wichita, Kansas plant and Monterrey, Mexico plant by Johnson Controls, employing over 2,000 workers, producing about 300,000 residential units per year plus commercial chillers, with some components sourced globally but final assembly in US and Mexico, using Copeland scroll compressors and standard components. Johnson Controls also owns Luxaire and Coleman HVAC brands that are sister brands to York, similar to Rheem and Ruud being same, sharing same factory and components but different badges and warranties, all offering 10-year parts warranty when registered. York also makes commercial chillers and rooftop units in York, Pennsylvania original factory. So York HVAC made by Johnson Controls, American company, with manufacturing in Kansas and Mexico.
