VRL was founded in 1976 by Dr. Vijay Sankeshwar, a prominent Indian industrialist and entrepreneur, who established the enterprise from humble beginnings with a single truck into India's largest private commercial vehicle fleet owner, alongside management contributions from his son, Mr. Anand Sankeshwar.
