At the violent resolution of the novella, American sailors led by Captain Delano board the San Dominick to overpower the mutineers, resulting in the deaths of numerous rebelling Africans during the bloody retaking of the ship. Subsequently, following formal legal trials in Lima, Peru, Babo and several other leaders of the insurrection are condemned, executed, and decapitated for their roles in the mutiny.
