Numerous celebrated figures, acclaimed artists, authors, politicians, and professional athletes have walked the halls of Kent State University. Among its most famous alumni are legendary entertainer and television host Steve Harvey (who attended briefly), renowned actor and director Drew Carey, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author J. Anthony Lukas, iconic musician and singer Chrissie Hynde of the rock band Pretenders, and various influential political leaders, scientists, and sports stars who launched their successful professional journeys from the university.
