Moen has been owned by Fortune Brands since 1956, and no one has bought Moen outright since then, though the corporate structure has changed. Moen was founded in 1937 by Al Moen, who invented the single-handle mixing faucet after burning his hands. In 1956, the company was acquired by Stanadyne, which later became part of Fortune Brands, a large American holding company. Fortune Brands grew into a conglomerate owning Jim Beam, Titleist, and Moen. In 2011, Fortune Brands split into two separate publicly traded companies, Fortune Brands Home & Security and Beam Inc. Moen remained with Fortune Brands Home & Security. In 2022, Fortune Brands Home & Security split again into two companies, Fortune Brands Innovations and MasterBrand. Moen is now part of Fortune Brands Innovations, ticker FBIN, headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois. So while Moen is still owned by the same corporate family it has been with since the 1950s, its parent company's name has evolved. Fortune Brands Innovations also owns other plumbing brands like Riobel, Perrin & Rowe, Shaws, and Victoria + Albert, as well as security brands like Master Lock and SentrySafe. Moen itself has not been sold to a competitor like Delta, which is owned by Masco, or Kohler, which remains private.
