The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball program has a proud history of developing standout student-athletes who achieved stellar collegiate acclaim and advanced to professional playing careers. Notable alumni include legendary guard and NBA Rookie of the Year Jim Baechtold, who was selected in the first round of the draft; standout defensive specialist and professional player Corey Walden; prolific collegiate scorers like Nick Mayo and Devontae Blanton; and famous media personalities such as veteran sportscaster Dan Patrick, who studied at EKU before launching his iconic broadcasting career.
