Google has officially phased out software, app connectivity, and cloud support for very early legacy hardware models, specifically the 1st generation Google Nest Learning Thermostat and the original Nest Protect smoke detectors manufactured before 2015. These legacy units have exceeded their operational lifecycle and can no longer interface with modern mobile app servers or receive security updates. However, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Nest models remain fully supported within the active ecosystem.
