Luxottica is not wholly owned by a single family today, but its founding family maintains a massive controlling stake through its holding company, Delfin. The enterprise was founded by Leonardo Del Vecchio, and following his passing, his heirs and family members hold the controlling interest. Delfin subsequently merged and evolved into EssilorLuxottica, remaining the single largest anchor shareholder directing the strategic governance of the massive multinational eyewear conglomerate.
