The internal electrical fuse or thermal line fuse protecting a residential ventilation fan, range hood, or furnace blower is typically located inside the main appliance housing. For range hoods, thermal fuses are mounted inline along the internal wiring harness near the blower motor housing. For standalone fans or HVAC units, fuses are often secured on the electronic control board, inside a plastic inline fuse holder along the power cord, or near the motor capacitor. You can troubleshoot internal components safely using a digital multimeter after disconnecting power. You can verify that you found the correct fuse when tracing incoming power leads directly to the fuse clips.
