South Korea imports the vast majority of its crude oil and petroleum requirements from major Middle Eastern producers, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Iraq, which traditionally supply the bulk of its energy needs. To diversify its supply chain and mitigate geopolitical risks, South Korea also procures crude from nations in the Americas, Southeast Asia, and through spot market transactions globally.
