Comcast traces its corporate roots back to Tupelo, Mississippi, where it was originally founded in 1963 as American Cable Systems. The business was later re-incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1969 under the official portmanteau name Comcast Corporation (combining "Communications" and "Broadcast").
