The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest continuously operated professional football franchise in the United States, tracing their origins back to 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club on the South Side of Chicago. Over their century-long history, they underwent several name changes—including being known as the Racine Cardinals and the Chicago Cardinals—before relocating to St. Louis in 1960 to play as the St. Louis Cardinals. Following another corporate move in 1988, they finally settled in Phoenix, eventually adopting their current identity.
