Brigham Young University is sponsored and administered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the vast majority of its student body adheres to the faith. While exact roster percentages fluctuate each season depending on recruiting classes and transfers, a significant majority of the BYU football team consists of members of the LDS Church, reflecting the cultural and religious identity of the private institution. Many players also complete traditional two-year religious proselytizing missions before or during their collegiate athletic careers.
