Surveys, comprehensive demographic polling, and campus climate assessments conducted by student organizations and prominent campus media outlets, such as The Daily Northwestern, indicate that a substantial, vibrant, and highly visible portion of the undergraduate student body proudly identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community. Recent polling data collected from the student body suggested that while slightly over 56 percent of the overall survey respondents identify as straight, a remarkably diverse segment of the remaining campus population falls under various LGBTQ+ identities. Specifically, the data indicated that roughly 22.6 percent of respondents identify as bisexual, approximately 15.8 percent identify as gay or lesbian, and around 8.1 percent identify as queer. These significant demographic figures highlight the inclusive, progressive, and welcoming cultural environment that characterizes the modern Northwestern University campus in Evanston.
