Students and athletic teams representing the Georgia Institute of Technology are most famously nicknamed the "Yellow Jackets." Additionally, students and alumni proudly refer to themselves as "Ramblin' Wrecks," an enduring moniker inspired by the historic mechanical contraption driven by students to football games, immortalized by the university's famous fight song, "Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech," which celebrates the institution's rich engineering heritage.
