There is no longer a fixed upper-income cliff to qualify for subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) following federal legislative updates. Previously, individuals earning over 400 percent of the federal poverty level were completely ineligible for financial premium tax credits. Current regulations provide subsidies on a sliding scale to anyone whose calculated premium for a benchmark silver plan exceeds a specific percentage of their household income, regardless of how high their total earnings are, provided they meet other basic residency and non-incarceration eligibility criteria.
