The EsoGuard procedure is a quick, minimally invasive, office-based diagnostic test designed to collect surface cellular samples from the lower esophagus without requiring traditional, sedated endoscopy. The patient swallows a small, tethered capsule (known as EsoCheck) that inflates to gently gather esophageal cells. These collected samples are subsequently analyzed at specialized laboratories using advanced targeted next-generation sequencing to detect specific DNA methylation biomarkers indicative of precancerous Barrett's esophagus.
