What is a fly's enemy? A fly's enemy includes many natural predators and threats. Natural predators include spiders that catch flies in webs, birds like swallows and flycatchers that eat flies in flight, bats that eat many insects including flies, dragonflies that are agile aerial predators of flies, frogs and toads that catch flies with tongues, lizards, and predatory insects like praying mantis and robber flies that hunt flies. Parasitic wasps lay eggs in fly pupae. Humans are also enemy using fly swatters, traps, and insecticides. Environmental enemies include cold temperatures, lack of food, and disease. Fungi like Entomophthora muscae infect and kill flies. So flies have many enemies in food chain, with spiders, birds, bats, dragonflies, frogs, and predatory insects being main natural enemies, plus humans and microbial pathogens that control fly populations.
