What is a fabric liner is inner layer of fabric attached or inserted inside another item such as garment, bag, hat, or container to provide additional function, protection, comfort, or structure. In clothing, fabric liner is smooth fabric like satin, silk, polyester, or cotton sewn inside coat, jacket, skirt, or dress to make it comfortable to wear, easy to slide on, hide seams, and add warmth. In bags and purses, fabric liner is interior fabric that lines inside of bag, often with pockets, protecting bag contents and adding durability. In hats, fabric liner is sweatband inside hat that absorbs sweat. In general, fabric liner is second layer of fabric that serves as lining, providing insulation, moisture absorption, protection from wear, and improved appearance. Fabric liners can be permanent sewn in or removable for washing. They are typically made from lightweight, smooth, breathable, or waterproof materials depending on purpose, such as quilted liner for warmth or waterproof liner for protection.
