Virgin Galactic successfully retired its original prototype spaceplane, VSS Unity, after completing a series of crewed research and private astronaut missions, including the historic commercial flights designated as the Galactic series. Following the conclusion of those initial missions, the company intentionally paused regular commercial passenger operations to transition its primary engineering focus toward building and testing its advanced, high-capacity Delta-class vehicle fleet.
