Oregon State University underwent a significant leadership transition within its men's basketball program when longtime head coach Wayne Tinkle concluded his tenure following twelve seasons with the Beavers. Following the conclusion of the competitive season, athletic department leadership launched a nationwide search and officially named Justin Joyner, formerly an assistant coach at Michigan under Dusty May, as the new head men's basketball coach to guide the program into the relaunch of the Pac-12 Conference.
