Workers' compensation insurance excludes injuries resulting from specific prohibited scenarios, most notably injuries sustained while an employee was intoxicated by alcohol or illegal drugs, injuries caused by intentional self-harm or fighting, and injuries occurring while committing a serious crime. Furthermore, injuries resulting from horseplay, policy violations, or accidents occurring during a normal commute to and from work are generally excluded, as they do not arise out of and in the course of employment.
