Standard car insurance policies explicitly exclude several scenarios, most notably mechanical or electrical breakdowns resulting from normal wear and tear, intentional damage caused by the policyholder, driving while intoxicated or under the influence of illegal drugs, and using the vehicle for commercial activities like commercial delivery or hire and reward unless specifically added. Furthermore, losses arising from war, radioactive contamination, or unlisted drivers operating the car are also excluded.
