What does "insert name" mean?

Insert name means placeholder instruction telling you to put your specific name or person's name into that spot in document, form, template, or presentation where it says insert name. It is generic prompt used in templates, forms, and examples indicating where you should type actual name instead of leaving literal words insert name. For example, if a letter template says Dear insert name, it means you should replace insert name with actual recipient's name like Dear John. In forms, field labeled insert name means enter your name. In computer prompts, insert name may appear as field where you type name. It is not meant to be taken literally as words insert name but as instruction to insert actual name. So insert name means replace this placeholder with real name, used in templates to show where personalization needed, similar to Your Name Here or Name. It instructs user to enter name in that location.
