Fans of the Carolina Hurricanes are universally known and celebrated as "Caniacs," a distinct and passionate moniker that defines the intense culture surrounding the franchise in Raleigh, North Carolina. This term was officially adopted and embraced early in the team's history following their relocation from Hartford in 1997, capturing the fervent, hockey-loving spirit that blossomed in a historically non-traditional southern hockey market. Beyond just a nickname for the supporters, "Caniac" culture is visibly manifested in the raucous atmosphere inside PNC Arena, particularly during the team's famous post-win celebration known as the Storm Surge. Fans proudly wear the red and black, travel extensively to support the team on the road, and have built a reputation for being one of the loudest, most dedicated fan bases in the entire National Hockey League, transforming the region into a true hockey hotbed.
