COREtec is owned by Shaw Industries Group, Inc., which acquired USFloors which invented COREtec, making COREtec part of Shaw Industries family which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. COREtec was invented in 2013 by USFloors, founded by Piet Dossche in Dalton, Georgia, as first rigid core luxury vinyl plank with patented core technology. In 2016, Shaw Industries Group, Inc., which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett's company, and headquartered in Dalton, Georgia, acquired USFloors for about 175 million dollars, acquiring COREtec brand. Today, COREtec is manufactured by Shaw Industries at its Ringgold, Georgia plant, with COREtec collections including Original, Plus, Pro, and Grande, all made in USA with FloorScore certification. Shaw Industries is second largest flooring manufacturer in world after Mohawk Industries, with revenue over 6 billion dollars, owning brands Shaw Floors, Anderson Tuftex premium brand, Patcraft commercial, and COREtec LVP. So COREtec is owned by Shaw Industries Group, Inc., which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, making COREtec part of Shaw family of brands, though COREtec maintains its own brand identity and product lines with cork underlayment and rigid core technology that distinguishes it from Shaw Floorte Pro.
