Determining whether live College Football Playoff games are scheduled for today requires understanding the seasonal timeline of collegiate athletics, which is concentrated during the autumn and winter months. In the middle of August, the college football schedule is entirely focused on preseason training camps and final preparations ahead of Week Zero and Week One kickoff games, meaning official postseason playoff matchups do not take place until the conclusion of the regular season in December and January.
