What brand is Tempstar?

Tempstar is a mid-tier HVAC brand that is part of the Carrier Global Corporation family of brands, positioned as a builder and value brand for residential heating and cooling. Tempstar makes air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, and air handlers, and is manufactured in the same factories as Carrier, Bryant, Payne, and Heil using many of the same internal components, including compressors, heat exchangers, and coils. The brand was originally part of International Comfort Products or ICP, which was acquired by Carrier in 1999. ICP is headquartered in Lewisburg, Tennessee, and operates large manufacturing facilities there. Tempstar is sold primarily through independent HVAC distributors and is often marketed to home builders, property managers, and homeowners seeking Carrier-quality engineering at a lower price point than the flagship Carrier brand. Tempstar units are known for using standard, non-proprietary parts, which makes them easier and cheaper to repair, and they typically offer solid efficiency ratings from 14.3 SEER2 up to 19 SEER2 on high-end models. Tempstar offers a standard 10-year parts limited warranty when registered. In the HVAC industry hierarchy, Tempstar sits alongside Heil, Keeprite, and Arcoaire as Carrier's value brands, below Carrier and Bryant premium lines but above Payne builder grade, offering reliable performance with fewer fancy features.
