The easiest shelves to put up are standard wall-mounted bracket shelves or ready-to-assemble freestanding bookcase units. Wall-mounted bracket shelves require simply locating your wall studs with an electronic stud finder, holding a pre-cut wooden board against the wall with metal brackets, and driving screws directly into the studs using a standard power drill. Freestanding bookcases require zero wall installation at all—you simply unbox the unit, assemble the modular panels following the manual, and place it directly against any room wall.
