What people are saying about Bradford White gas water heaters is generally very positive, with reviews praising reliability, long lifespan, and contractor-grade quality, making it a top choice among plumbers. Bradford White Corporation, founded in 1881, headquartered in Ambler, Pennsylvania, makes Bradford White gas water heaters in Middleville, Michigan, USA, known for Defender Safety System and Hydrojet technology that reduces sediment. On plumbing forums, contractor reviews, and Home Depot, Bradford White gas water heaters average 4.5 to 4.7 stars, with consumers praising excellent reliability, few callbacks, long lifespan of 10 to 15 years with proper maintenance like annual flushing and anode rod replacement every 3 to 5 years, and good energy efficiency with 0.62 to 0.65 EF. Plumbers especially like Bradford White because it is sold only through plumbing wholesalers and contractors, not retail, ensuring professional installation and fewer DIY issues, and parts are readily available for decades-old models. Negative comments mention higher price than Rheem or A. O. Smith retail models, costing $600 to $1500, and some older models with Honeywell gas valves from 2004 to 2005 had recalls. Overall, people say Bradford White gas water heaters are excellent, reliable, long-lasting, contractor-grade quality, worth higher price for professional installation and longevity, recommended by plumbers for reliable hot water.
