There is no universal age limit that completely bans or stops you from owning life insurance, but underwriting availability changes drastically as you grow older. While traditional term life insurance policies typically stop accepting new applicants around age 75 to 80, older adults can still purchase specialized whole life, final expense, or guaranteed-acceptance policies well into their 80s and 90s, provided they are willing to pay significantly higher premium rates.
