If your sink drain basket or stopper fails to hold water, the issue is usually caused by degraded plumber's putty beneath the flange, a worn-out rubber washer under the sink, or a misaligned pop-up stopper plug. To fix a leaking drain seal, unscrew the large locking nut beneath the sink, push the drain assembly upward, clean away old degraded putty or sealant, apply a fresh generous bead of plumber's putty or silicone caulk, and retighten the mounting nut securely. Verification: Fill the sink basin with water and check beneath the cabinet to confirm zero leaks.
