When a gas stove clicks continuously but fails to start or produce a flame, the malfunction is typically caused by clogged burner port holes blocked with food grease and carbon, a misaligned burner cap, insufficient gas supply pressure, or an insulated layer of grime coating the ceramic spark electrode. When debris blocks the gas path, fuel cannot reach the electrical spark to ignite. You can troubleshoot ignition failures safely. You can verify that your corrective action is successful when scrubbing the burner head with a wire brush, clearing out port holes with a pin, wiping the electrode with rubbing alcohol, and seating the burner cap flush allows the escaping gas to catch the spark and light immediately.
