To fix a completely blocked bathtub, remove the drain stopper and extract trapped hair using a flexible wire tool or plastic snake. If the hairball is out of reach, seal the overflow plate with a damp rag, place a plunger over the drain, and pump up and down to dislodge the obstruction. For stubborn blockages, feed a drain auger through the open overflow pipe to reach deep clogs in the P-trap. Verification: Fill the tub slightly and pull the plug to verify that water empties rapidly.
