Most ductless mini-split air conditioning systems do not feature a physical, dedicated external "reset button" located on the indoor wall cassette or outdoor condenser housing that you can simply press to clear errors. Instead, resetting a mini-split to reboot its computer control board and clear fault codes is accomplished through a simple electrical power cycle or by using specific button combinations on the handheld wireless remote control. To perform a hard reset, you must turn off the system via the remote, shut off the dedicated indoor electrical disconnect box or trip the circuit breaker in your main panel for five to ten minutes, and then restore power. You can troubleshoot persistent error flashes easily. You can verify that your reset procedure was successful when restoring power causes the indoor unit louvers to recalibrate smoothly and normal cooling or heating resumes.
